Spectrafix Degas Pastel Spray Fixative is a non-toxic, non-aerosol fixative made with caesin, water and alcohol. This formulation is based on a recipe used by French Impressionist painter, Edgar Degas. It seals your work to provide a layer of protection while leaving your colours brilliant with no alteration in sheen. All with no toxic fumes or odors! You can use this fixative indoors, without worrying about continuing to work nearby.
It dries quickly to an invsible, matt, water-resistant finish. Colour can be layered on top of the fixative - it provides extra traction on thick layers of slippery mediums like coloured pencils or oil pastels. It combines well with almost all media and can be used on many surfaces. Degas fixative can be used with pastels (including soft, oil and pan pastel), coloured pencils, graphite, charcoal and chalk. It also gives good results with watercolour, gouache, caesin paint or ink. Use this fixative on all papers, sueded or gritted paper, canvas, panels, unglazed ceramic, stone, leather and glass. It can be used to seal underdrawings for oil and acrylic painting, but should not be used as a final top coat over acrylic or oil paint.
